Mr. Springer joined The CDI Group in February 2012 after more than 20 years of experience with a demonstrated track record of success in strategic planning, business operations, profit and loss management, divestiture, post mergers and acquisitions integration, and technical program implementations.
For Tom’s latest assignment, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Applus Technologies Inc, providing strategic direction and executive management for the US-based operating unit. In his capacity, Mr. Springer was responsible for leading the organization to achieve high performance goals; developing and strategy in alignment with the parent company’s global vision; maximizing the organization’s legacy to lead the industry; and increasing operational efficiency through systemic improvements and technological innovation.
Prior to Applus, Tom served as a Vice President for a global telecommunications firm providing strategic services to international, commercial and government clients. He had executive management responsibility for the business unit providing direction in support of the parent company, developing and fostering executive level relationships, positioning the organization with key accounts, and generating product and service demand to drive growth.
Earlier in his career, Tom was the CEO and co-founder of Global Networking Solutions, LLC, a management consultant at Booz Allen & Hamilton, a Director at USConnect, and a Technical Expert for the International Monetary Fund in Ethiopia. Mr. Springer also served in the US Air Force as a Budget Analyst.
Tom holds a masters degree in telecommunications from Johns Hopkins University and a dual bachelor’s degree in computer science and business administration from North Carolina Wesleyan College. He was an adjunct professor for Johns Hopkins University teaching a variety of business and technical courses.
He served as Chairman for North America for the International Motor Vehicle Inspection Committee (CITA), an international non-profit trade association. Also, Mr. Springer has participated and served on various industry panels, committees, and working groups, including: M&A Source, Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA), and American Council for Technology / Industry Advisory Council (ACT/IAC).
